What can you use the app for?

Healthline networks allow people to search for medical advice. This is said to be another option other than having to visit your doctor. You can tap in your symptoms and then the website will try to suggest things that could be wrong with you. You can also use the site to find out about medical advice and find out what treatment options are available. If you have been diagnosed with something then it’s a useful site to find out more about it. The site was originally known as YourDoctor.com and was re-branded in 2005. It’s a very popular website and receives over 17 million page views every month. The advice is free and it could help you to reduce the costs of your medications by making suggestions. Of course it is not a replacement for your doctor and you should always ask your doctor for advice.

What is the history and popularity of the app?

Healthline was founded in 1999 as Yourdoctor.com; it was then re-launched in 2005 and re-branded as Healthline networks. It is one of the 10 most popular health websites on the internet and receives in excess of 4.2 million visitors per month. Healthline is similar to competing services such as WebMD.

What are the differences to other apps?

Healthline is pretty much the same as any other online health advice website where you can search for certain symptoms and find out about what might be causing them. You can also use the site to find out about treatment options, their side effects and anything else that you might want to look out for. The site is completely free and is supported by adverts. It’s quite a trustworthy site that tells you when you need to talk to your doctor and when you should be concerned.

How does the web app look and feel to use?

Healthline has quite a nice website and it’s also very easy to use. The site is split up into sections which mean you can easily read about treatments, or find out about symptoms. Clicking on a symptom will bring up a list of possible causes, while clicking on a treatment will tell you more about that drug including why it’s prescribed and any possible side effects.

How does the registration process work?

Signing up for an account isn’t necessary if you just want to read the resources however you can get a more tailored experience if you do. Signing up is very easy although the signup form is longer than you might be used to. Make sure you uncheck the box if you don’t want to receive the newsletter and also check the box at the bottom of the page to confirm that you have accepted the terms and conditions. There’s also the option to signup to specialist newsletters which might be of interest if you suffer from specific conditions. Health line will then send you a confirmation email which you will have to read and follow the instructions in to activate your account.

What does it cost to use the application?

Healthline is a free website that’s supported by adverts. There are a number of adverts on the site however these don’t normally get in the way or damage the experience in any way.

Who would you recommend the application to?

Healthline is ideal for anyone that wants to find out about health concerns. It can be a great resource if you want to find out about certain medication too; however it’s by no means a replacement for visiting your doctor for regular checkups.

  • Search for symptoms
  • Find out information about medications and treatments
  • Learn about conditions
  • Receive emails from health experts in certain fields
